Vintage Storage Solutions

If you live in a dinky closet-challenged bungalow like I do, you've got to get creative when it comes to storage. And since any storage solution will need to be out in the open, it'd better look good, which in my book means VINTAGE.
It's no secret that I adore vintage suitcases, the older the better. Stack 'em high and pack 'em up! Mine are loaded with off-season clothes (bkinis, sweaters, etc.), ephemera packets ready for sale, table linens, and all the fitness equipment I never use (but that's a secret).

I snatch these up at every chance I get. In preparation for this post, I counted a downright scary 13 in use in my home, 9 in my shop, and 14 that I've sold in the last 2 years.

Stack them at the end of the bed or as an endtable; tuck one or two under a buffet; showcase them on bookcases. Or just send them to me! XOX

I love vintage suitcases!! I have them everywhere.....even in the bathroom to stash ALL hair supplies! I hate things out, and my cabinets over runneth, in came the suitcase......I just flip up when it's hair time, throw everything back in when I'm done, close the lid, and it's all out of sight!

I just love it when people get rid of these at yard sales for a quarter!! I snatch and run!

Bikinis? Really? Just kidding you girl...I totally dig suitcases too. By any chance do you have a foolproof way to get that "old" smell out? Yours look very RL!

Great Looking Vintage Suit cases!!!
Tip on smell removal...if you need it:
I have an old oak cabinet that had a funky smell. My parents told me to get cedar chips like for rabbits and spread them out the drawers making a nice layer in each. and leave it there. Now that is the part that I forgot..how long did I leave them there I think at least for a month. Or was it until the smell was gone...sorry about that may be some one has done and remembers.
Have a Happy Sunday!!!

I love old suitcases too! I only have three, however. Not nearly as lucky as you are with your huge stash. Don't you think nearly everyone has storage issues? Is there ever enough room? Well, I suppose if you're a collector of NOTHING..storage wouldn't be a problem..........but......oh my......holy cow........I GOTTA collect. It's so much FUN!

Wishing you a glorious day.

Warm blessings,
Spencer

I do live in a dinky closet-challenged bungalow like you (the original construction had two closets, each of which are about 11 inches deep), and I think the suitcases are a brilliant idea. I think I'll put this in my idea box for the next time the wife asks me to build something. :)
